Maintenance and Exercise

Maintenance has been going very well.  I had to do one steak day, which I predicted before hand, the day after Christmas.  It turns out that some of the very yummy breakfast quiche, that I ate quite a lot of, had a layer of bread in it.  I had some of the fudge too (sugar is a no-no that early in maintenance!).  Still, I only went a half pound over my 2 pound weight limit.  I also had to do a steak day more recently, because, well, I can only blame it on utter lack of self control.  I ate a bunch of Bugles, which might have been okay now that I am eating grain, except that I ate quite a few, and quite late at night.  If I had eaten them earlier in the day, I likely would have been fine, but, like I have mentioned before, eating late at night is a big personal no-no for me if I want to keep the weight off.

What else am I doing?  Well, thanks to my dear friend Susan, I have started exercising more frequently.

Monday - Walk up Evac hill.  Carnation has an evacuation route for in case the dam breaks on Tolt River.  There is a path up behind the elementary school (strictly walking) on one side of town, and a road up on the other end of town that can be driven up.  We took the foot path up.  It is around half a mile up, and took us about 20 minutes or so.  Susan has an app on her phone that keeps track with the use of a GPS.  We got to the top and dropped down to say hi to a friend of ours that lives on the road there.  Then we went back down, and walked some more, so the total amount walked was 2 miles.

Tuesday - Walk on the Railroad Trail.  There is an old Railroad trail that goes by my road.  I don't know where it starts on either end, but I know that it goes at least all the way to Monroe in one direction, and quite a ways past North Bend on the other side.  We parked at the place where it crosses my road, put Kaitlynn and Wyatt in the double jogger, Luke road his bike, and Susan, her daughter, and I all set off for Sandy's, the little coffee shop in town, for lunch.  After lunch we went back to the trail and walked down to where if we had continued on, we would have left Carnation, but instead we went off to the right, under the main road, and followed a hiking path over to the dog park.  Susan brought her dog Phoenix, and he got to go off-leash at the dog park for a little while, where we discovered that he is actually quite a social and polite pup (not the snarling, snapping, shove-Katie-behind-him-to-protect-her dog we thought he was at 4-H).  Then we walked back to the trail and back to the car.  My poor son passed out in the car lol

Thursday - I belly danced in my living room with Luke.  Reminded me of when I was doing it while pregnant, and he was only 3 and doing it with me... he hasn't improved much since then lol

Friday - Lap swimming at the Issaquah Pool.  Each lap is approximately 25 yards, so 36 laps is about half a mile.  I know I would not have kept going if not for the fact that I got just a touch competitive with Susan who was swimming in the same lane with me.  I just HAD to get to the other side before she did (we were swimming in opposite directions within the lane).  We would turn around, look at each other, try to rest, and if one of us set off, the other did too.  It has only been 3 1/2 hours or so, but I can REALLY feel the muscle soreness.  In fact, I am fairly certain that sitting here typing all of this out is causing my neck muscle, right where my shoulder muscle hits it, to try and spasm painfully.  So I think I will be done now.

Weight-wise, I am doing well.  I was 149.5 this morning, a pound over where I ended Phase 2, and firmly within my allowed 2 pound weight swing.  I have been hovering around 150 or so, so it has been nice to see the 149.5 weight the last few mornings.  LOTS of water, plenty of sleep, and not eating too late in the day are the keys that are helping me maintain my weight.

Pleasant dreams all!  Signing off.
