A Fresh Start

Well, a lot sure has happened since I last wrote on this blog.  The biggest news is... I had a baby!!  His name is Wyatt, and he is the sweetest little guy :)  However, my pregnancy sorta did me in both weight and health.  It was a difficult pregnancy, followed by a difficult delivery.  Long story short... Braxton Hicks contractions led to bed rest, pre-eclampsia led to hospital stay and induction.  Wyatt went sideways during the induction, so I had to have a ceserean :(  I gained a lot of weight during the last part of my pregnancy, and when Wyatt was born, I weighed a wopping 194 pounds.  Within the first month, I lost about 25 pounds but now, 2 months later, I haven't lost any more weight.  The ceserean was very hard to recover from, but now I'm feeling great (although still have numbness around my incision and pain in the muscle when touched, but not too bad) so it's time to get back to being healthy.  No, I'm definitely not doing the HCG diet (head over to my sister blog to see Susan's experience doing the diet while breastfeeding to see why) nor am I going to be restricting calories.  The goal here is not to lose weight necessarily, but to get healthy again.  So... what am I doing?

Walking.  I am walking my feet off!  Yesterday was the first day of my new exercise regimine.  After dropping Luke off at the bus, I put Kaitlynn in the stroller, Wyatt in his carrier on my chest, and off I went.  I walked about half a mile to the school, and found Susan at the alternative school in the back.  We decided to walk together, but she had to get her kids home first.  So I walked back to my car, headed over to her place, and we walked for about half an hour.  I don't know how far that was though.  It took longer because Kaitlynn walked this time, and we had to stop and wait for her a few times :)

Today, instead of dropping Luke off at the bus, I parked back at the trail and he rode his bike while I pushed the stroller and carried Wyatt.  We made good time and got there in time for Luke to play for a little bit before class.  Unfortunately it was starting to sprinkle, but it wasn't very heavy, so we didn't really get very wet.  It actually felt really nice :)

I bought some sneakers at Value Village so that I have actual walking shoes instead of scrubs shoes, or really thin soled tennis shoes.  These have more cushion and support for the foot.  Yay!

Here's to getting healthy and maybe losing some weight in the process!

Today's weight... 168.5 pounds.
